Meaning of “Engagement”

My best friend’s ( Aina Mohd. Som) engagement ceremony is being carried out today. But to my regrets, I couldn’t attend this very special occasion. I’ve never been to any Malay’s engagement ceremonies and I think I’ve just missed one. To much of my desire, I decided to look up on the net and learn about Malay’s Engagement Ceremony. “Pertunangan” seems to be a compulsory step leading towards the Big Day- The Wedding Day. Meanwhile, looking at our modern society, western- style engagement has already gained its popularity among the new generation. Making an engagement before marriage is regarded as a romantic moment and could add something unique to the new couple’s life. It also allows the two to better understand each other before they get married. Engagement ceremony accompanied by melodic music and surrounded by friends and relatives, lovers will have an unforgettable long-cherished romantic moment when the man gives the engagement ring to his sweetheart. And of course, engagement could be a start of trial marriage to a certain amount of people with different thinking and cultural background. For some people, after the engagement ceremony, the two will choose to live together “legally” and during the “trial” period, they’ll get to know whether they can live happily together with the household chores. And if they find something wrong in between , they could easily part with each other without worrying much of the financial issue. Regardless of the different meanings of engagement , I truly believe it’s something beautiful and memorable in our life.

Soup container VS Colon

It was my cute nephew’s 2 years old birthday yesterday. My brother in law decided to throw a dinner in a chinese restaurant…. so he ordered shark fin soup for each of us and we were told it’ll be served in a bowl. After 10 mins..I was amazed by the chef’s novel idea. He served the shark fin soup in a “mushroom-liked container” which was made of bread. I was delighted and couldn’t wait to try out the soup . Sip by sip, I finished up the soup within few minutes. Gosh….the top view of the container ( with some soup remained) just reminded me of “colonoscopy”( visualization of the lower gastrointestinal tract)!Ewwwww…. Guys, if you’ve ever seen a colonoscopic picture, u know what I mean…LOL.

What Color Purple Am I?

You Are Grape

You are bold and a true individual. You are very different and very okay with that.
People know you as a straight shooter. You’re very honest, even when the truth hurts. You are also very grounded and practical. No one is going to sneak anything by you.People enjoy your fresh approach to life. And it’s this honesty that makes you a very innovative person.

What Color Purple Are You?

Serendipity

Serendipity

Serendipity - the ability to make pleasant and unexpected discoveries entirely by chance.

Lately, something happened to me and the word “serendipity” just popped into my head. I just love this word and it can define our life perfectly- full of happy accidents.

Destiny is one thing we find lovers as fantasy but the hope of finding who is meant for us is something we dreamed of having.

Serendipity is crossing in the twilight of love, a meeting by accident but seem like it was ought to happen. I believe that there’s always a cosmic power, keeping and holding those who meant to be together to their destiny..and it predetermines the right person at the right time.

Do you believe in serendipity? Has that happened to you before? Can it really be possible that someone your saw at the book shop, cafeteria or a mall or just someone who rescue or help you might be the ONE?

Love moves in different reasons, others believe in patient courting and while others believe in destiny. Whichever it may be, if both are willing to share their life together, then it is a happy ending.

Donate Free Rice and Improve Your Vocab!

untitled.jpg

When I was reading up some blogs randomly today , I found out a lot of recent posts mentioning about freerice.com which can improve your vocab, and feed the world at the same time. I’ve heard a little about this word game but have never checked out on it, so I’ve decided to drop by today….AND..I’VE BEEN CAUGHT BY THIS WORD GAME, I’d say, ADDICTED, because I just love word games.

It’s a game which offers you different vocabs with mulitple choice answers. When u get the definition/ meaning right, the sponsors will donate 10 grains of rice through the United Nations to ease the world hunger.Although 10 grains is not a huge amount, nor 500 grains. But, the effort means alot to the world’s poverty.

How I did in the game?? Hehe, I admit that I cheated …*Grins* opened up the PDA’s dictionary and find the most appropriate answers for each words. Hey, I did try out by myself lots of time and I managed to get it right too! Well, guess it’s for the sake of donating more rice to the poor ones.

Come on, let’s make a move right now!

Informations for My Juniors II

*continued from the previous post….

Now its all about my interview in SPA…For this very “special” day, I’ve decided to stay in Mariott Putrajaya just in case I couldn’t get up for the interview! ( Guys, u need to report yourself between 8am-830am, so dun be late!…And guess what…I reached the place by 715am..muahahaha…guess it was too early. It takes less than 10 mins to travel from Mariott Putrajaya to Parcel E )..

On this very fine day…only 11 grads were called for the interview. Out of 11 of us, one guy failed ( dun ask me the reason ya, because I didn’t ask him =P). Among 11 of us, 6 from Russia ( 3 from MMA, 2 from M2, 1 from Nizhni), 1 from Ukraine , 4 from UK.

During the interview, there’ll be 2 person sitting in the room ( for me, it was Room “H”…all of us are going to the same room), the one on right side will be from SPA, and the one from left side will be from MMC. Basically, the interview was easy! ( But I was kinda nervous before getting the results! Which is Failed/ Passed. ) P/S : you’ll only get to know the results after all the candidates are being interviewed – Normally it’s around 12pm.

For me, the questions are as below :

1) Tell me about yourself

2) Tell me about the education system in your university

3) Tell me about your plan for future career

4) What’s the common infections in Malaysia and Russia?

5) What’s open and closed fracture?

6) Tell me something about Glasgow Coma Scale

I’ve checked out from few of my friends as well….their questions are as below:

1) What do u want to specialize in? Why?

2) Why do u want to be a doc?

3) What makes a good doctor?

4) JVP – Jugular Venous Pressure

5) What are the steps for proper physical examination?

6) How to differentiate neonates and infants?

7) Define Ethics and Value

8) What’s the name of the Russian who invented the “ bone growth method”?

9) Where do u want to do your posting? What if you get an offer at Kota Bahru? Will you accept the offer?

10) Tell me about your last job ( If u were working )

11) Job hazard

12) What do u want do to improve your medical knowledge?

Basically…..there was no questions about current issues regarding malaysia’s economy and politic.

Just answer with confident, and relax ! The interviewers just want to talk to u…they’re not going to eat u up…Hahaha.

If you’ve any other questions , please feel free to ask!

Informations for My Juniors I

To all my dear friends and juniors…It has been long since I last keep you all updated about my recent life!

I’m not gonna talk much about my life in this post…instead, I’d like to share my experience with my dear juniors who are anxious to know about procedures to be done after graduation and how was my interview…

Haha…Let me take a deep breath before getting myself carried too far ….

Firstly, it’s about the convocation. Committees will be chosen somewhere around April ( 3-4 representatives from each country). From then onwards, the committees need to gather once in 2 weeks in the Dean’s office ( The acting dean will lead the committees and distribute respective jobs to each committees ). * For our year, we paid 4000 rubs ( each students) for the hall, buffet, year book, video, photo ( when you’re on the stage), convo robe and mortarboard.

On the graduation day, you’ll get your Diplome ( Degree in Russian) , and a certificate ( Written in English – it’s for yourself to keep and of no official usage ), and your year book.

After the convocation, it’s about the documentation job =)

You’ve to collect all your regarded documents from the dean’s office ( from Marina) the next day after the graduation ceremony, it includes:

1) Transcript ( Marksheets ) in English and Russian

** P/S : please check each and every details on the transcript especially your name in English…because it’ll cause a big hassle if it’s not correct ( my name was spelled wrongly and my documentation job was delayed for a week)

2) A set of papers ( 4 papers ) – It’s some sorts of stuffs like bonafide letter and no objection letter.

As u guys know,we’ve to get it translated and endorsed by the Foreign ministry =)

It’s not an easy job ( so , I’ve decided to pay the runner , one Indian guy , to get it done for me ) – I’ve paid 4000 rubs for him to get my documents translated and chopped by foreign ministry.

It takes about 2 weeks for me to get my documents back.

Now, it comes to the “Apostille”. Apostille is some sort of certificate to allow u to work in European Union in the future , so I’ve paid another 7000 Rubs for this runner to get it done. In fact, you can get the apostille done by Russian Embassy in Malaysia as well. But for me, I find it more convenient to get everything done in one shot….It takes another week for the apostille. If you’re wondering when to return back to Msia…I’m not too sure about that. For myself, my convo was on 21st June, and all the documentations were done only by 16th Jul. If you’re not planning to get the “apostille” , perhaps u can choose to leave Moscow by 10th of Jul. I personally left Moscow on 20th Jul =)

After u arrive Malaysia, it’s up to you when you want to report yourself to MMC ( but I personally advise u to do it ASAP unless you want to take a breather )

You can download the forms from the internet ( MMC, SPA)

MMC- Malaysian Medical Council ( Download the form , fill it up and get yourself registered within 3 months after your graduation )

SPA- Suruhanjaya Perkhidmatan Awam ( Fill up the form and arrange a date for interview with the secretary after you get yourself registered with MMC )

Please read the details carefully and prepare few copies of your documents and get it certified EACH AND EVERY PAGE ).

Conclusion :

1) Register yourself under MMC

2) Arrange Interview with SPA , fill up the “SPA 8i form” online before the interview. You can choose to buy the SPA 8i form by spending RM5 at SPA ground floor.

3) Get the BMD ( boring maklumat diri) form from Human Resources Department of Health Ministry – u can hand in this form anytime ( for me , i submitted this form right after I passed my interview ) * This form is about your personal details, and you’ve to fill up 3 choices of your preference hospital. They’ll be a list with 31 hospitals which u can choose from.

4 Liquid Stages of Life

Four_liquid_stages_of_life_1

I just happen to come across this photo on the net, looks interesting…And, it reflects our life in a proper, and humorous way =P 1) Milk 2) soft drink 3) alcohol 4)drip….

When one is still a baby, he’ll never realize how lucky is he, being fed timely, and without any complaints, he’s so well taken care of. When it comes to the second stage, kids always think that soft drink is the most nutritious drink ever in the world and will fight to the most with their parents, just to have a bottle of soft drink in their hand. The contentments on their face will never be questioned, yeah, they’ve got themselves a bottle of soft drink finally! It’s just about kids… When it comes to the next stage, yeah…the next stage, alcohol stage. It’s difficult to explain, why exactly one has taken up the drinking habit, or just a sip to try out for not being regret for the rest of their life. But, sometimes it could be something irreversible once one has started liking alcohol. Of course, every people have their own reasons and stories behind for them to start the first experience of drinking. For the final stage…..the “dripping” phase, i think i shall not discuss much about this stage, as we’ll never know what’ll be the final outcome of our life..=P

First Post..

To all my dear friends, in setting up the new blog, i’ve chosen “ferris wheel” as the theme of this blog. Instead of Merry-go-round, Ferris wheel had always been the favourite game in the amusement park when i was a kid. Well, although it’s slow and boring, i did enjoy the fresh air and view!

As I grow older, I seem to realise the meaning embeded behind the ferris wheel. Life’s just like a ferris wheel, it keeps turning without feel. As it spins round and round, let us up and let us down again, the world seems to be in a spin.

When we’re at the bottom, we feel pretty secure . But the unnerving feeling seems to creep in when the wheel goes up and to the top, right before everything seems to fall away. Just like a ferris wheel, there are transition periods in our life. Let it be a good or bad one, as we ride through those points, we’ll have to stop and face the transitions. As a natural part of human, we do resist transitions and changes in life and would rather stay in a misery or a static life. Future is just too uncertain for us, but life’s just like that…as we pass a certain transition points, we’ll be alright. I truly believe that life is like a ferris wheel, with us trapped in the small rickety cages, nevertheless, there is no closed door in life. When one door closes, new ways open. That’s how life works.
